Our Story
Jack’s Helping Hand was founded by Paul and Bridget Ready in memory of their son Jack, whose three-year struggle with a rare form of brain cancer ended in 2004.
Jack was diagnosed with a brain tumor at a very young age. Like other children, Jack learned to communicate, eat, and play games, but he needed special equipment and assistance to do those things. During the course of Jack’s journey, the Ready’s recognized that families with children with cancer and other special needs faced unexpected financial burdens. Jack’s Helping hand was created out of the desire to provide assistance to families, the community’s willingness to support, and the life of a very special boy.
Our mission is to provide community programs that meet the unique challenges of children with cancer or special needs under the age of 21.
